COMIC BOOKS

COMIC BOOK

It’s common knowledge how easily children become attracted to comic books.Although many parents remain unconcerned ,there  are others who feel strongly about it.they point out that most comic books aren’t funny at all,but instead are full of violence and sex. They feel this has a provocative effect upon the child, pushing him in this direction himself.I have heard mothers time and again blame their children’s disobedience on the violence they learned from comic books and other entertainment media, such as radio and television.
First of all,the comic book presentation is colorful and almost exclusively pictorial. It places no premium on reading, even though there may be a good deal of reading material thrown in.You don’t have to know how to read to follow the story and, even if you can’t follow the as a whole, most of the pictures pack enough action to fire your imagination anyway.
Reading doesn’t come easily to children. It’s easy for them to because discouraged and bored by the process of learning how,to say nothing of the dull material they are required to read for many years.Comic books,by way of comparison, are so much easier for them to tackle it’s no wonder children select them for those times when they feel like playing passively.
Another reason for the popularity of comic books among children is their degree of exaggeration.Children are easily attracted to this. They  still feel the history of their own dependency and power. They see all around them the values of bigness and power. They live, after all,in a world dominated by the bigger people – the adults – around them. They get a change to re-enact the drama of their own search for adequacy by the following their hero through the obstacles of his struggle. It’s like the old saw; If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.Comic books offer children the opportunity of riding their wishes more actively and more imaginatively than most other media.Add to this the fact that a child’s friends show enthusiasm about comic books, and the contagious effect of their interest will soon spread to him as well.
